Following the Japanese whiskey and sake, shochu is now entering the European market… in full force. Although little known, this alcoholic drink is widely consumed in the archipelago.

Did you know that the most consumed spirit alcohol in Japan is not the famous Japanese whiskey but shochu? Whether industrially made, or column-distilled, made from sugar cane molasses, or artisanal and authentic [genuine?],shochu, which is mainly produced in Kyushu, appeals to us with its exceptional diversity.

Alexandre Vingtier, the pioneer of Japanese whiskey in Europe, is one of the references of spirits in France, whiskey, cognac, armagnac, calvados rum or even tequila and mescal. He has written many books translated into 9 languages on the subject. He is the editor-in-chief of Rumporter, a specialized magazine on rum and the world of rum. Heis a member of the tasting committee of the Revue du Vin de France.
