To mark the publication in France of the book MAEKAKE by ANYTHING, the Japanese apron taking over the world, written by Sophie Gallé-Soas, Éditions Akinomé (bilingual French-English).

Conférence : Le maekake, emblématique tablier des fabricants de saké - Salon Européen du Saké et des boissons japonaises 2024

Sophie Gallé-Soas will retrace the history of Maekake back to the 14th century, the peak of its production in the 1960s in Toyohashi (Aichi Préfecture), and its gradual decline. Until Kazuhiro Nishimura, CEO of ANYTHING, decided, 20 years ago, to restart the weaving of Maekake on century-old looms originally designed by Toyota.
