Niigata Prefecture consists of four areas: Jyoetsu, Chuetsu, Kaetsu et Sado. This region is the sake producers’ mecca with 89 breweries. Niigata Sake producers developed Tanrei sake style based on the modern food culture and continue to develop unique and local flavors.

Shunji Odaira Chairman of the Niigata Sake Brewers Association

Shunji Odaira is the chairman of Niigata Sake Brewers Association since June 2015.
Prior to this, he had been appointed to the vice-chaiman from December 2001 to June 2015.

Shunji Odaira has been one of councilors of Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association since 2001. And he was appointed to a member of Sake production Technical Committee from 2004, then appointed to the chairman of this committee since 2020.

Shunji Odaira is the president of Midorikawa Shuzo Co.,Ltd.. He joined this company in October 1985 and appointed to the president in October 1998. Before joining Midorikawa ,he had worked for Suntory from 1982 to 1985.
