無料! - COMPLET

Description

SUNDAY October 1st, 2023 from 11:30am till 12:15pm

Sake is inextricably linked to many aspects of traditional Japanese culture. Chanoyu, “The Way of Tea” (often referred to as tea ceremony), is a 500+ year old art form focused on the simple but heartfelt act of preparing tea for guests. The pinnacle of chanoyu is hosting formal tea gatherings, called ‘chaji’, which include the preparation and service of two styles of tea and a traditional multi-course seasonal kaiseki meal accompanied by sake. “Chidori sakazuki”, the exchange of sake between host and guests, is one of the most important moments in a formal tea gathering and helps link the host and guests together through a shared cup of sake.
In this lecture we will introduce the Way of Tea and explore its fascinating traditional relationship with sake, including explanation of traditional methods of sake service and the utensils used for pouring and drinking within the tearoom.

This session will be presented in English.
